In a new series of short interviews on the blog, we are catching up with the people involved with the major refurbishment projects managed by Good London Builders, from the managers and architects to the builders themselves.
Here, we get started with Good London Builders’ founder and director Rory Gordon.
Can you describe your job in 10 words or less?
Putting great builders into great clients and delivering great projects
Can you tell me one thing that would surprise people about being an PM?
You get asked to do the strangest things. I once had to search through a client’s removal boxes as there was a panic to find the clients’ birth control pills
What would be your dream project to work on and why?
A large structural refurbishment in prime central London with lovely clients that trust in me to deliver a great project for them. It just makes the process fun when the clients want create a lovely family home for themselves and wan too lean on me for advise and suggestions.
If you could change anything about the construction industry, what would it be?
There be a company you could bring in that would be guaranteed to finish projects (snagging) efficiently and effectively – I think there is a real market for such companies, but the problem is them having the quality of propel to deliver this.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what tool would you bring with you?
Air conditioning!
